Features of the Sunshine Bait Tank

Congratulations. You are reviewing the features of the finest bait tanks currently on the market. We strive to continually improve our bait tanks and currently offer what we consider the best. This page will highlight many of the items that make our tanks the best.

Sunshine Bait Tanks are built with the finest UV stable polyethylene available today. Blocking the Ultra Violet (UV) light from the bait holding area is a very important factor in preserving the life of your bait. It is important that we use only the best components of our bait tanks. Using the material that we do also makes them very easy to clean.

We use only the finest Stainless Steel where applicable within our tanks. This ensures that the metal parts will not rust. We also use PVC for our pipes and saltwater resistant plastics where needed. The use of these parts ensures a long life for our bait tanks.

Our filtration process (shown looking down from the top) shows the inner filter basket. This inner basket filters out bait scales and other debris from the water in the bait tank. This filter basket is easily removed for cleaning while at the lake.

This photo shows the white Poly-Fil material in the bottom of the filter tank. This material is used to catch the smallest contaminants from the bait tank filtering process.

All Sunshine tanks use only the “Keep Alive” air infusion system as part of the filtration process. This process infuses air into the water when it is being recirculated in the bait tank. There is an air control center as part of this process and is shown in the upper left portion of the first photo above (the black knob). This air control center allows you to control the size of the air bubbles being infused into the water. Smaller bubbles are best for this process and our tanks are set at the factory for the smaller bubble size.

All of our tanks include a pump out feature which allows the owner to pump the water out at the end of a fishing day. We are able to utilize the same pump for this feature. Included with your bait tank is a short piece of ˝" CPVC which used with a short length of hose will quickly remove the water from the bait tank. In the photo above (opening, to the right of the water intake) is where this short piece of CPVC is inserted. The photo below shows an inserted tube.

An old garden hose is most often used for this water removal process. The length of the hose depends upon the distance your bait tank is from the side of your boat and how far you wish the hose to extend into the lake. This exhaust port is the bubble port used for the air infusion system so do not leave the hose connected while fishing. You will need to remove the filter basket when draining the bait tank.

Pictured at the left is the top to our Bait Tanks. Please notice that there are NO protruding screws, bolts or wing nuts that would tear your pants or scratch your legs. This optional reinforced top can be used for seating if desired. There is a lock in front of the lift handle with an arrow on it to indicate open or closed as well. The reinforcement process will easily hold the average adult male.

Each of our tanks are shipped with a quick connect for your power supply. This is done to assist you in hooking up the pump to your power source. The red tipped wire is connected to your positive power source while the other wire is connected to the negative power source. The quick connection device allows you to remove and install the tank easily. We also offer a version of this with a 7.5 amp in line fuse. Please see our Supplies page for more detail

Our tanks are constructed using a Double Machining process for the tops. This process not only makes the tops flatter but greatly reduces the splashing of water into your boat.

All our bait tanks are double walled construction. This allows for water to be circulated between the bait holding area and the outer walls. This circulation is designed to keep your bait tank and the bait cooler during those very warm summer fishing trips.
